I meant no harm.
I didn't figure you did (though I wasn't sure of this), otherwise I'd have just started trashing posts. Someone did put up one post in buy/sell today for online programming services that was prompty deleted (a first for LargeSound.com and hopefully a rare event).
I also offered the commish back to here . . . and, as a matter of fact, I even tried to buy mine through here BEFORE going through my own affiliations but, apparently, you didn't get to read the email I sent to you on that day requesting the pricing.
Email me at
brock@largesound.com about when you emailed (or if you just want to drop a line). If it was early on I was only checking email like maybe twice a week, but now I do at minimum daily now. Everything is run out of my house and this obviously isn't how I make a living. A lot of changes have happened since the beginning (improvements) and there's some more in store.
The commerce end is explained in some detail in the Commerce FAQ:
http://www.largesound.com/commerce/faq/In short, the commerce end should hopefully support the resources (and if it becomes profitable that's all good by me).
I came here to join a comminity, not to make a buck. I offered a deal. All I saw was pricing closer to $300. I assumed it would be the same here and I didn't flinch in asking you for the price.
The Commerce arm definitely 'passes the savings on'. All the pricing is listed currently at
http://www.LargeSound.com/commerce/. Some parts are now in too!
Suggestion: If the site mentions items related to the Ashbory, shouldn't a link be available to those items? For example, I didn't get any answer here when suggesting talc options and finally had to find an outlet that sells the stuff.
I'll consider adding that. I make a very deliberate effort to try to keep a reasonable separation between the resources and commerce, with the resources being the master over commerce. This is why there's not a "buy now" after the slyde-rite info page for example. Maybe that wouldn't be that awful, I just try to keep an eye on things to where the balance is maintained.
To the accounting department's (my Wife) dismay, when I announced the intentions of LargeSound.com Commerce I told her, "You know why there's a '.com' in the name? It's because it's a real dot com business, hoping to make money while being based from free services". Of course this isn't really true, since there's no IPO money, rock climbing wall, or senselessly diluted shares of stock like a real dot com had. LargeSound.com won't be gone in 3 years, either!
Again, I meant no harm . . . but I'm not going to hide the best deals I can find surrounding Ashbory . . . so, if that's a problem, I guess I'll take commune elsewhere . . .
I already addressed that the price from LargeSound.com Commerce was less expensive from the price from where you mention (plus there's 2-3 day shipping with LargeSound.com Commerce, not to mention the extras, and the fact the instrument gets tested and the strings are prepped) but what I neglected was the Slyde-Rites!
Online prices seem to vary between ($1.60-$2.10). LargeSound.com Commerce price quantity 1 is $2.50 INCLUDING FREIGHT!
Can someone in the US send $2.50 to LargeSound.com and receive a slyde-rite by mail? Sure. (Anyone out there interested in actually supporting the resources please order two or better yet three, as it's about a wash on quantity one with product cost, credit card processing, and postage combined).
Enough about the pricing!
You're more than welcome here. It good to see enthusiasm for these instruments, after all that's what got them to return from extinction:
http://www.ashelec.demon.co.uk/ashbory/internet.htmMy intentions from day one have been to keep as much commerce off the board as possible. Commerce tends to make things ugly, everything from truth stretching to the worst I saw, which was a guitar dealer on a message board who took on a second identity that would ask the dealer about their current inventory, etc. (that was BAD).
Ultimately I concluded that LargeSound.com was going to create instrument sales, and those could either go to some dealer that likely isn't too knowledgable about the Ashbory and is just taking unearned sales, or they could go to the source of the sales and support a handy and long overdue resource (I meant to build the old AIR resource out to half this level for about 4 years!).
This, in a nutshell, is why there's a Commerce arm for LargeSound.com. The thing I never anticipated was how much getting all those basses in and out the door would help the resources. The pictures and information for these pages would not be readily available if it were just me, my bass, and other comments from this board:
http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/mod/lefthanded/http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/general/fenderart/..and there'll be more info like that that in the future I'm sure...
Anyway, welcome to LargeSound.com! It's still a puppy, hopefully it will contine to grow and mature into a nice Black Lab, friendly, loyal, honest, well natured, and good for fetching (in this case, information). Unlike the Lab, I hope this pet project will feed itself and not slobber too much! We'll see how it matures. The recent contributions I've received are most encouraging.

P.S.> Don't expect everything to be perfect here on the boards. I've never been a moderator for anything like this. Please bear with with my rookie mistakes with moderating out there!
