Musician's Friend has them for $300, there's some other places on the net with them a bit cheaper, and I am authorized dealer as well (with competitive pricing to say the least). Send an email to commerce@largesound.com and I'll give you the pricing/availability info.

I'm hoping to keep some seperation between the resources and the commerce end. Regardless of where you get an Ashbory from, feel free to use the resources here. The instructions I send out with each Ashbory are also available at this site. If you get an Ashbory from somewhere else, I strongly recommend looking over the LargeSound.com Ashbory User's Guide at http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/general/userguide/.

I picked one up for 200.00 on ebay (deArmond...).  Patience is everything when ebaying for an instrument.

DeARMOND Ashbory Bass Moon Blue w/gigbag
Price - $269.00 - Free Shipping at GuitarTrader.com

I'm affiliated, 5% commission so I applied my commission to the shipping so I could get my new Ashbory FASTER~!

If anyone wants this through them, just let me know.  I'll even kick back the commission to you, OR, probably better, this site. At any rate, 5% = $13.00 you can toss on another set of strings~!

That was the only problem I've had so far is locating strings. GT doesn't carry them as far as I saw but I'll be working with them to see what I can fanagle.

A reminder, these boards are for non-commercial use. Mentioning commission kickbacks is in violation. I'll leave this up for a short while anyway so word gets around. I probably should make this rule more visible, as currently it's just a small mention under "Buy and Sell".

I haven't intentionally pulled any posts to date (the ones that disappeared about a month ago were due to my user error), and would rather under moderate than over moderate.

I also try to keep LargeSound.com Commerce stuff off the board as well, but since the door's been opened:

Total price for an Ashbory Bass from LargeSound.com Commerce including 2-3 day freight: $262.00

What this purchase accomplishes:
1. You get a killer deal on a cool bass
2. You support the LargeSound.com Resources
3. Your bass comes with a Slyde-Rite
4. Your bass comes with the LargeSound.com Ashbory Bass Users Guide.
4. You get service. Your bass is tested and the strings are prepped for use (stretched).
5. The resources benefit greatly from basses passing though my hands and getting documented in the resources. I was initally concerned about conflict of interest issues with being a retailer, but overall it has been much better this way since the exposure to the instruments and accompanying changes is direct.

There's a lot more info on LargeSound.com Commerce in the FAQ at:
http://www.largesound.com/commerce/faq/

Also, the resources are designed to be self supporting (hopefully even profitable), and donations are not accepted, so no one can kick back a percentage of their affiliate commission even if they wanted to. If you want to support the resources, here's the advise listed in the commerce FAQ

Quote from: LargeSound.com Commerce FAQ at http://www.largesound.com/commerce/faq/
If you want to support this resource, consider buying some strings or something from here IF it is convenient and reasonable. Don't buy junk you don't need. Don't worry about contributing money back. If you can add information and answer questions in the forum, or contribute Ashbory related information otherwise, you'll be providing worth.

I too will try to limit the amount of commerce here as well. When I set up LargeSound.com to replace the old AIR site ( http://www.largesound.com/ashborydoc/other/air/ ) I knew there'd be conflicts between commercial interests. LargeSound.com (and AIR) was and still is a resource first. You will notice that this site does not hide from instrument weaknesses (such as G string longevity). This can't be good for sales but as a resource it's the right thing to do. People will handle the quirks better if they know, and as an owner of an Ashbory for about 7 years I personally find the benefits far outweigh the minuses, and I'm certainly not alone in this regard.

I meant no harm. I also offered the commish back to here . . . and, as a matter of fact, I even tried to buy mine through here BEFORE going through my own affiliations but, apparently, you didn't get to read the email I sent to you on that day requesting the pricing.

I came here to join a comminity, not to make a buck. I offered a deal. All I saw was pricing closer to $300. I assumed it would be the same here and I didn't flinch in asking you for the price.

Suggestion: If the site mentions items related to the Ashbory, shouldn't a link be available to those items? For example, I didn't get any answer here when suggesting talc options and finally had to find an outlet that sells the stuff.

Again, I meant no harm . . . but I'm not going to hide the best deals I can find surrounding Ashbory . . . so, if that's a problem, I guess I'll take commune elsewhere . . .

I didn't figure you did (though I wasn't sure of this), otherwise I'd have just started trashing posts. Someone did put up one post in buy/sell today for online programming services that was prompty deleted (a first for LargeSound.com and hopefully a rare event).

Email me at brock@largesound.com about when you emailed (or if you just want to drop a line). If it was early on I was only checking email like maybe twice a week, but now I do at minimum daily now. Everything is run out of my house and this obviously isn't how I make a living. A lot of changes have happened since the beginning (improvements) and there's some more in store.

The commerce end is explained in some detail in the Commerce FAQ:
http://www.largesound.com/commerce/faq/

In short, the commerce end should hopefully support the resources (and if it becomes profitable that's all good by me).

The Commerce arm definitely 'passes the savings on'. All the pricing is listed currently at http://www.LargeSound.com/commerce/. Some parts are now in too!

I'll consider adding that. I make a very deliberate effort to try to keep a reasonable separation between the resources and commerce, with the resources being the master over commerce. This is why there's not a "buy now" after the slyde-rite info page for example. Maybe that wouldn't be that awful, I just try to keep an eye on things to where the balance is maintained.

To the accounting department's (my Wife) dismay, when I announced the intentions of LargeSound.com Commerce I told her, "You know why there's a '.com' in the name? It's because it's a real dot com business, hoping to make money while being based from free services". Of course this isn't really true, since there's no IPO money, rock climbing wall, or senselessly diluted shares of stock like a real dot com had. LargeSound.com won't be gone in 3 years, either!

I already addressed that the price from LargeSound.com Commerce was less expensive from the price from where you mention (plus there's 2-3 day shipping with LargeSound.com Commerce, not to mention the extras, and the fact the instrument gets tested and the strings are prepped) but what I neglected was the Slyde-Rites!

Online prices seem to vary between ($1.60-$2.10). LargeSound.com Commerce price quantity 1 is $2.50 INCLUDING FREIGHT!

Can someone in the US send $2.50 to LargeSound.com and receive a slyde-rite by mail? Sure. (Anyone out there interested in actually supporting the resources please order two or better yet three, as it's about a wash on quantity one with product cost, credit card processing, and postage combined).

Enough about the pricing!

You're more than welcome here. It good to see enthusiasm for these instruments, after all that's what got them to return from extinction:
http://www.ashelec.demon.co.uk/ashbory/internet.htm

My intentions from day one have been to keep as much commerce off the board as possible. Commerce tends to make things ugly, everything from truth stretching to the worst I saw, which was a guitar dealer on a message board who took on a second identity that would ask the dealer about their current inventory, etc. (that was BAD).

Ultimately I concluded that LargeSound.com was going to create instrument sales, and those could either go to some dealer that likely isn't too knowledgable about the Ashbory and is just taking unearned sales, or they could go to the source of the sales and support a handy and long overdue resource (I meant to build the old AIR resource out to half this level for about 4 years!).

This, in a nutshell, is why there's a Commerce arm for LargeSound.com. The thing I never anticipated was how much getting all those basses in and out the door would help the resources. The pictures and information for these pages would not be readily available if it were just me, my bass, and other comments from this board:
http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/mod/lefthanded/
http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/general/fenderart/

..and there'll be more info like that that in the future I'm sure...

Anyway, welcome to LargeSound.com! It's still a puppy, hopefully it will contine to grow and mature into a nice Black Lab, friendly, loyal, honest, well natured, and good for fetching (in this case, information). Unlike the Lab, I hope this pet project will feed itself and not slobber too much! We'll see how it matures. The recent contributions I've received are most encouraging.

-Brock

P.S.> Don't expect everything to be perfect here on the boards. I've never been a moderator for anything like this. Please bear with with my rookie mistakes with moderating out there!

I'm digging through my email and I sent you a response (provided you are João Oliveira Costa).  Also, I'll resend the message and hopefully it'll appear in your 'ocasta@' email box.

I'm sorry if you didn't receive it, but rest assured I replied! Here's the message:

I haven't shipped anything overseas and whenever I do, the first one is
going to an English speaking country so I can talk with whoever if
anything goes wrong. If only I could speak Portuguese!

My advise is to contact your local Fender dealer and request a price for
an Ashbory. Here's the parts numbers:
http://www.fender.com/gear/gear.php?partno=0350100306

Be sure to mention to them that it is in the "Strings, Parts, and
Accessories", or SPA, catalog. Sometimes dealers don't find the Ashborys
because they aren't with the other instruments.
