I didn't realize it, but I've now been actively Ashbory-ized for a decade now!

When I bought my old Guild, it has a bad pickup. I managed to track down Alun Jones of Ashworth, and I got it back, probably sometime early January of 1997. That's when I finally had a fully functioning Ashbory Bass.

Here's the letter:

Happy Ashbory Anniversary to me!

Happy Ahs-niversery Brock!

I have my Ahs for less than a year, but still amazed each time I use it... are you still amazed after 10 years?

There's a point, at least for me, where the Ashbory became familiar and not at all odd (at about year 2 or 3 I think).

I still go "Wow, that sounds great" to myself from time to time but I'll admit that familiarity removes that awe quite a bit. Plug it in and it sounds great gets very predictable after a while!

My playing has progressed quite a bit over the years, and I suppose that's the biggest change, even bigger than moving to the (superior) DeArmond from the old Guild. The instrument always sounded great, but I do a better job of sounding good along with it.

You deserve to be congratulated Brock. You have singlehandedly bought the Ashbory back from obscurity. This website and your old Steamroller site are generally the first thing anybody finds on the internet when searching for Ashbory.

Well done.

I crossed over and became one of you right after Fender took over DeArmond and Guild. Mine is a Fender Ashbory. I have no complaints or regrets.

ASHBORYS RULE!!!!!!!
