alternative to talc

Is there an alternative to talc on strings, what about a liquid lubricant is there some gel or oil available that can give the strings a silky feel

There's a few non-talc alternatives mentioned here:

I like the Slyde-Rites best of anything. They're available through billiards distributors and also (for people in the USA) through LargeSound.com Commerce. The slyde-rite powder stays to the hand and is much slicker than baby powder, plus it doesn't smell like baby powder.
