Harmonics?

Do harmonics work on the ashbory?
Does the pickup pick them up?
Do the strings even resonate quick enough to make a harmonic overtone?

I'm trying to get as much info as I can before buying. Thanks.

I'm no harmonics master (bass guitar or Ashbory Bass) but I can readily get harmionics on the 7th and 12th 'frets' of the Ashbory and also get them in other spots as well.

The strings are more 'fluid' but they still do harmonics.

...and yes, the pickup picks up the harmonics very well.

thumb harmonics

The ashbory can pull of thumb harmonics, aka false harmonics pretty good.  Jaco used these on Birdland.  The techique is to pluck with your finger near at the same time your thumb lightly touches the string, but release your thumb immediately.  Basically any note you hit sounds like a harmonic.  You can jump the octave by picking close to the bridge.
Not as strong as real harmonics, and a compressor helps.

Yeah you can play harmonics on an Ashbory especially on a bright eq setting. I seem to remember Joe Satriani saying one of his songs was inspired by Doug Wimbish playing harmonics on an Ashbory bass,,,, although this would have been one of the MKii Bass Centre basses it still works on an 18 inch regular Ashbory.
