can an Ashbory work for Hard/Prog Rock
« on: May 26, 2004, 06:05:34 AM »

The quetion is pretty much summed up in the title. I currently am in a band whos plaining style is a combination of hardrock( Metallica, Ozzy) and progressive rock (Rush, Dreamtheater). Well I was wondering if a Ashbory is a viable choice for these faster and harder styles. As for the sound we want a faily fast moving bottom end that can keep up with the 2 guitarist rather talented guitarist we have. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

You'll definitely get the low end and picking near the bridge will help your attack. The only downside is that the low tension strings don't respond quite as fast as metal ones so your picking technique might need adjusting.

Trey Gunn and Adrian Belew have both played an Ashbory with King Crimson and it sounds great.
