Substitute D for G string...

So my G string broke...surpise there :)

Not having a spare, I stuck a D string on there and it seems to be working well.  Will this cause any problems?  Is anyone else doing this?

Tried it once, lasted about two months before it too broke, worked as a temporary replacement but felt different due to stiffer string tension. Certainly would not recomend it as a permanent solution.
