DeArmond name dropped from new Ashbory Basses
« on: January 06, 2003, 07:51:47 AM »

The DeArmond name is being phased out from the Ashbory Basses. More info with pictures available in the new article at:

Enjoy!

Just bought the black one in the pic from Brock. Can't wait for it to show up. I like the new look better than the "DeArmond" label....

I got mine about a week ago ... i didnt know about the change
it was a very pleasant surprise! i hated that nasty DeArmond thing
well... im loving it so far ... its my first fretless ... the smaller scale
is tough to get used to ... but i love that baby powder string action
                smooooooove
i may get some balls and send some mp3's this way

Color?

Hey Jermy,

What color is your Ashbory?

Also,  There's a users guide at http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/general/userguide/.

Worth a look. Also, stretching the strings is a VERY good idea.

Red ones still in limbo

I have since had two shipments with red basses, including one today, and the basses were both DeArmond bags and basses.

Odd.

I'm totally new but I just bought an Ashbory from guitartrader.com (I'm affiliated after all) and the stamp on the body states DeArmond . . . and, after seeing the new Ashbory logo alone I was wondering if there are any decals or metal Ashbory emblems/plates that can be attached over the DeArmond signature? Not that I mind, mind you, just thinking is all.

Also wondering about what the aftermarket ideas are with this because I've got a lot as, I'm sure, all you guys do too...

Oh yeah . . . hi all

Looks like the supply is just erratic that way; I bought mine at Guitar Trader  (same company, but this was at their store in San Diego) several months ago and it says Ashbory.

Art changeover

LargeSound.com Commerce hasn't received a DeArmond branded Black or Blue bass in a long time, but the last couple red ones were, though I have received one 'Ashbory' branded one a couple months back.

Also, a few basses came in with 'Ashbory' bags and a 'DeArmond' bass inside. The hang tags were odd as well, some 'Ashbory' models had a DeArmond hangtag, pretty sure there was Fender stuff in with a DeArmond as well, and some boxes had no hangtags at all. "Just erratic" is an excellent description.

The art changeover is documented here:
http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/general/fenderart/
...and the string packaging as well...
