e sting buzz
« on: January 10, 2006, 12:46:45 AM »

I just got a new Ashbory and the E string seems too floppy and buzzes against the fretboard and isn't nearly as loud as the D and G strings.  I assume the bass wouldn't be so popular if they were performing like mine is.  What might be the problem?  Thanks!

I've got to think that the nut angle is wrong somehow.  This isn't specific to Ashborys.  However, I'm wondering about the buzzing against the fretboard.  Is it possible that your buzzing is actually against the nut? Is the string coming off of the tuning peg real high?  Did you take a straight line off the inside of the E peg?

BTW, I think this is in the tech FAQ.

Once the buzzing stops, I would bet the volume will improve.
