Ashbory "Christmas" gig
« on: October 27, 2006, 09:53:55 AM »

No-one has chipped into the forum for a while, so I will.

For those of you conveniently placed, I and the mighty Ashbory shall be performing with the Chalfont Wind Bands at St Joseph's church, Chalfont St Peter, Bucks (UK) on 1st December. A recommended outing for any fan of Ashbory-players-humiliating-selves-by-trying-to-play-difficult-Bizet-pieces, or indeed any fan of tuba-parts-of-film-theme-arrangements-poorly-transposed-to-Ashbory.

Something for everyone. Well, someone. Anyone?

I'm in Boise, Idaho, USA, so there's no way I'm making that trip. I've never been to Europe, but someday I'll make it there.

Have a good gig!

As someone who has played tuba outdoors in December, I wholeheartedly endorse the idea of using an Ashbory instead.

Now you can worry about getting your lips stuck on some cute coronet player instead of your frozen mouthpiece.

BTW, how's playing with fingerless gloves on?

Inside, as it happens. Until a VERY impressive acoustic Ashbo comes along I will be able to continue avoiding the frosty carols for charity outside the supermarket on Christmas eve, hurrah! Although I could mime, I guess, which would be less embarrassing than when I'm heard.
