hullo, all. I've just bought an Ashbory and a fierce struggle is going on in the household as to who has first rights to it. I think my wife and I will agree to shared custody which
I think means she can play it when I feel like playing something else and want a bass player. .
I've played ukulele since 1975, guitar since 1976, and upright bass since 1977. I did a music degree playing classical guitar, picked up the viola da gamba and then went back to school for that, and bought a banjo and a bass guitar and a lute in there somewhere. People have actually paid me money to play these things, though not always as much as I'd like. I've been sideman-for-hire, played in jazz bands, rock bands, classical groups, orchestras, and recently as a ukulele soloist. I've got one solo CD out, classical and ragtime duets on uke and guitar
http://ezfolk.com/audio/bands/439/, and I'm working on another.
I've always been intrigued by the Ashbory, and after playing one at a jam session a few months back, developed a real lust for one. I'm pretty immune to IAS- it's been ten years since I bought an instrument - but I think this thing has a permanent place in the stable - great for doubling gigs. If I can get it back from my wife.
