I went to the doctor, pointed at my arm and I said 'It hurts when I do this.'  The doctor said to me, 'Don't do that!'  But seriously...javascript:void(0);

What sort of a noise?  Squeaky, like friction between your plucking finger and the string? A thud or a thock?  Perhaps you're doing it a little hard. javascript:void(0);

 Is your amp turned up enough so you don't have to muscle the thing, or is it turned up so much that you can hear air traffic controllers through your amp if you face the nearest airport?  New battery? Old battery?

I would start with giving us your overall setup & settings and describe your plucking technique and the associated noise.
