Alun Ashworth-Jones 1945-2008
« on: June 13, 2008, 05:07:27 AM »

Alun Ashworth-Jones, Ashbory creator, passed away on June 1, 2008. He was 62.

I have added my recollections here:
http://www.largesound.com/ashboryarticle/general/alun-ashworth-jones/

...and at this time you'll probably notice the "In memory of..." on the tops of most of the pages of the site.

I'm not really sure what to add beyond what I have noted in the link above. From my contact with him over the years, it was obvious he had a love and interest in the instrument he brought to the world (along with Nigel Thornbory) and people using them.

It was a sad day for me yesterday, but I appreciated finding out from Mike Tavener instead of from a web page or message board note, which unfortunately is what I am doing now.

Hello,

I should step forward and say that I wasn't aware of Alun's involvement with the Ashbory bass but I did discover his music via the Mooncrest reissue of his CD some years back. I was looking for information about him today and saw the news that he had passed away. I am so very sad to hear of this. I love his music..."River Bend" is one of the most sublime and affecting pieces of music I have ever heard. I just wanted to post here in honor of his memory.

Alun, if you can see this, thank you so much. I'll have your music living with me forever.

With sincerest respect and affection,
John Stanton
