Anyone tried Vox Amplug with Ashbory?

There is a Bass model. On paper should be ideal with Ashbory as practice amp.

Pricing at Musician's Friend: $40 + s/h; list $56.

For that money, I'd prefer the Ampworks Bass, which you can find on eBay for about the same price. It's a little bigger than the Vox, but it has a lot more versatility.

In fact, I'm using my Ampworks Bass as a preamp for the acoustic output of my Parker P-38 guitar, which has a combination of magnetic and piezo pickups and a stereo output to separate the signal to different amps. With a selector switch, I can play just acoustic, just electric, or both! ;D

I have the Ampworks as well and I'm pleased with it overall.  The VOX looks interesting, though. I'd like to try one out. The smaller size is a bonus. If it doesn't get in the way while playing, the integrated jack looks like a nice remover of clutter.

Here was my impression of the Ampworks when I got it:

I still like the Ampworks Bass.

Tried the VOX Amplug Bass when I was shopping for a practice headphone amp.  I quickly discovered that I didn't like the forced Vox amp modeling that it imposed on me.  All I wanted to hear was precisely what was coming out of my 'bory...no more, no less.

After quite a bit of looking around online, I decided to go with a little known amp called:  Earwig.  They seem to be made one-at-a-time by a guy in Canada.  His site is here: www.easounddesign.com/first_1.html

I got the "Original" version, the one at the top of the page at his site...although I only paid $49 (Buy Now) on eBay.  He has added a new version that appears to be everything mine is...and less.

For his newest version, he has been able to cut the cost by about $10 US.  It has all of the features, but it is a little smaller.  He is selling them on eBay for $49.98 + shipping from Canada.  Here is a TinyURL version of the very long eBay link:  http://tinyurl.com/cy4los

I really like the build and sound quality of this little guy.  Being able to adjust the bass AND auxiliary input from my computer or an MP3 player at the same time, is great.  It takes a 9V battery, or use a very common 9V AC adapter.  I think I must have about 10 of those in a drawer in my shop.

I'm really glad I made the buy.  Check out the specs and see what you think.
