MK II strings?
« on: March 27, 2009, 02:52:19 PM »

High,

Where/how can i get strings for my MK II? I'm in Sweden so anywhere in Europe would be fine.

Thanks,

Standard Ashbory strings work perfectly well on the 22" scale as well as the 18". That's what I use on my Mk II and the 22" scale homebuilds that I play. Brock will supply full sets and singles, I still sell G & D and will post to anywhere in the world.

Jair-Rohm Wells,

How do you do?! Great to hear from you. Long time no hear!

You may be able to get Mark II specific strings from Nigel Thornbory at Highly Strung in the UK. As Mike mentioned, he's used some of the Fender sets at 22 inches successfully.

I probably should put a background on here. When I got my Guild Ashbory used in the mid 1990s, the pickup was bad. Music stores and the like had been largely worthless in helping me get a new pickup located. I went online and Jair-Rohm gave me the contact info for The Bass Centre in London,  who then sent me to Ashworth Electronics. My pickup was rebuilt, "...and the rest is history".

It was all phone calls back then as the music related web was very thin back then. There was enough web to get a starting point, though.
