1987 Guild AU 794
« on: June 02, 2007, 06:08:34 AM »

Have just discovered my 1987 Guild is one of a limited number apparently. Mine is red (still in the Guild gig bag) and is in primo condition.  Does anybody have ANY idea if it is even semi valuable as a collectors item or how I would go about finding out  what it is worth? I am aware that multiple companies have made them during the last 20 years........

That's a fairly common Guild. There was 1235 Guild Ashborys made. Of the originals, you'll see a lot of blue and red models.

Value: I recommend searching finished auctions on ebay. A rough guess of value for your bass would be $350. In 1997 you might have been able to get $600 for it but the Fender/DeArmond improved reissues have done a couple things:
1. Increased overall Ashbory supply.
2. They're largely superior (better tuners, pickup) to the Guild, so as far as playing, the more desirable Ashbory is now available new, which was not the case in 1997.

I have a 1987 ashbory but mine is a pearl-ish cream color. Any Ideas what this one might be worth??
