Sambient's newbie questions part two: powder

I'm going to ask this question even though I run the risk of seeming excessively girly.
Can cosmetic powder be used on the hands and strings for playing?
I've already treated myself to Slyde-Rite and I like it plenty.
I do, however, work at a cosmetic retailer, and sometimes makeup testers are thrown away when we get new ones. Thus, I have free loose powder at no cost. Can I use it in this alternate way?
