are the silicone strings hollow?
« on: January 02, 2011, 02:35:11 AM »

I read a lot of those silicone strings break quickly.

Are they hollow?
If so, why hasn't anyone thought of running a nylon wire through them so you could keep the tension, with less chance on breaking the string?

(nylon tends to stretch quicker than silicone, so in essence you'd be equipping the ashbory with nylon strings like a guitar, while the strings still have the mass of the silicone slowing it down in frequency (making sure the bass won't sound like a guitar).

My bass arrives in a few days, but want to know what would happen if this would be a good solution to save the strings, without sounding too different.

They're solid, not hollow.
