Cut them to length and install the tuning peg side first.  I overlapped the end of the string with one wind.  Then put the bridge end of the string in next and tighten.  If you have too much on the peg, remove,  cut and try again.

Thanks! That's a great idea. Wish I'd thought of it.

Thanks also to you and all the other posters who've reported their experiences with these strings.

For me, I'm really trying to push this bass beyond just being a dinky bass that sounds like an upright.  The Pahoehoe strings are more what I'm looking for to get me there.  They are not perfect for me yet, but my options at this point are extremely limited.  I think this bass has potential to do so much more than just "sounding like" a stand-up bass, and getting the right strings is key to that.  If it can start sounding like an electric bass (as well as a stand-up), the interest will grow.

I miss having the Ashbory around (some ding dong stole it from my car), so I'm back to the electric until I get another Ash.  It's just not the same - I don't feel that I can be as creative on the electric.

That might have been me with the Cocoa butter.  I lightly dip the tips of my fingers (both hands) in it from time to time. Helps with the Pahoehoes on the Ashbory - and I do the same using LaBella 7710s on my URB. I also put a little dab in the nut slots - makes me think it helps when tuning. I like these strings on the Ashbory.

Yep - I do.
I play in a reggae band and couldn't resist the dreads - they sound and feel the same as the black ones, but make the Ash look even more toy like.
