Playing standing
« on: February 07, 2010, 12:41:27 AM »

I've had my Ashbory for less than a month now but have been amazed at how seamless the transition from 5-string 34" scale fretless basses to the 18" scale has been.
But that's by-the-by.
Playing the Ashbory seated was no problem, the pointy end of the body sitting neatly between the legs to support the neck in a playable position.
But standing was another thing altogether.
I tried some of the ideas presented in the forums but none was really satisfactory.
With a little bit of luck and experimentation and suggestions from my partner I found a way of supporting the bass with only one addition to the instrument.
I added a third strap anchor button on the machine head for one end of the strap and simply threaded the jack plug through the other.
It resulted in a very playable position. The photos will help explain.
